Update successful, all working.

Looks like a fencepost error with the .231 update, the second time it’s tried, I suspect it looks in the place it first put it, finds it and then romps along.

A minor request; the HFB DAC+ Pro could do with some extra love, just as the HFB Digi+ Pro has received…

FOR THOSE WHO EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM
Did you click multiple times on update (since the updater took 10 seconds to show any feedback)?

It could be useful if you guys could retest the update from 2.221 to 2.231 by clicking JUST ONCE on update and see if you still get the error.

RPI B + hifiberry
successfully update my rpi b… after a factory reset.
Weird, hifiberry dac is proposed in the output device even with i2s disabled ?
ooops, now I get a blinking webUI… ssh is not activated, so no way to see what happens now…

edit : after about 1 hour ( I left it untouched) , everthing seems ok now ! So ok for me !

Apart from a minor spelling mistake (2nd ‘Succesfully’ needs another ‘s’), this went as described. Congrats to @Michelangelo, this is a good one!

Thanks again to everyone is helping in this test…

I’m really happy to announce that I’ve solved all the issues emerged in this beta test (or at least I think…).

What has been solved:

  • Slow reaction when clickin update
  • Flashing UI

To confirm everything is working as it should, please let’s do the last round (hopefully)… Please start from any version you want, up to 2.333 and report as usual. Fingers crossed and we should be ready to move on…

RPi3. All good here ty. My initial problem could well have been the “multiple click” problem, since I have a mouse on it’s last legs and I sometimes have to click more than once to get it to register. Now, I really should get a new mouse, but this one is comfortable … :wink:

Done on RPi3 with no DAC (not yet)
Each update was fluent, no stop and restart well each time.

Now, I have to check if the update library works fine because I’ve got some issues with 2.201.

System: Rapberry Pi 2, no DAC, wired network, dynamic IP address, CIFS share mounted.

Today I installed a fresh 2.201 version.
Then I mounted my music library from my NAS, as a CIFS (Samba) share.
I connected no DAC, for these tests.

Then updated 2.201 to 2.222. The updat started immediately, no delay at all. All is ok. My NAS mount and music libraries are still there.

Flashed a clean 2.021, activated test mode and ssh, updated to 2.222, then to 2.233. All without a problem.

One thing though, it looks like the allo dac modules that enable ‘Dual Mode’ are only available for the 4.4.9 kernel. Are there plans afoot to update those as well?

Allo drivers come now built-in 4.9.x kernel.
Seems indeed dualmode is part of 4.9.36.
So Michelangelo may want to bump kernel north, now kernel update works fine.

Everything seems to work okay and no problems with 192/24 flac (cpu ~6%) but dsd seems to be converted on the fly to 192/24 pcm. (cpu ~60% - dsd direct)

Discovered a bug not to related to OTA I think. When I change output device (or any setting from system menu) - USB DAC -> HDMI - volumio can’t detect right hw address, I have to manually edit mpd.conf hw:0,0 -> hw:0,3, all zotac computers may be affected, have tried 3 different.
