Thank you for this. Really appreciate it

if you done that and you got from Google… API key/ClientID/SecretID and installed the plugin
and it still doesn’t run … you know how to find me :stuck_out_tongue:

i got it working again but on the 32bit version queue requests are very slow
( 1 in the 4/5 sec takes ages to get it filled up )
gonna go back to the 64bit version the queue is mutch faster in this system…
went back to a backup of 3.10 of @ashthespy now i have 234 songs in 45
seconds…

The link seems broken now. Is there a plan to put Youtube Music in place as a supported plugin?

@graemeluke look over here the brand new version of the plugin…

I’m a newbie, where I can get Youtube Music tutorial or guideline?

what do you want to know…? the youtube plugin is replaced by the youtube2 plugin.

YouTube2 plugin for Volumio

Volumio plugin for browsing YouTube videos and playing audio streams.
It has been tested on Volumio 2.834.
Getting Started

To install the plugin, first make sure you have enabled SSH access on your
Volumio device. Then, in a terminal:

$ ssh volumio@<your_Volumio_address>

 mkdir youtube2-plugin
 cd youtube2-plugin
 git clone https://github.com/patrickkfkan/volumio-youtube2.git
 cd volumio-youtube2
 volumio plugin install

...
Progress: 100
Status :Youtube2 Successfully Installed, Do you want to enable the plugin now?
...

// If the process appears to hang at this point,
just press Ctrl-C to return to the terminal.

Now access Volumio in a web browser. Go to Plugins -> Installed plugins and enable
the YouTube2 plugin by activating the switch next to it.

That plugin doesn’t support YouTube music though. I don’t think such a plugin is possible for some reason. I guess google wants us to go and buy their speakers instead of streaming from Volumio.

Tried to install the youtube2 plugin but the install process hangs. Don’t even see the Status message.

on what are you installing it?

Sorry. I should have included that.
This is on Raspberry Pi3 Model B+
Volumio System Version: 2.917

Also, I tried to install this plugin under /myvolumio/plugins/music_service/ directory (as root). Would that be an issue?

strange you didn’t need any root to install plugin’s maybe that’s the problem.
ssh in to the device with name:volumio password: volumio

and you only had to follow the steps from this post.

and if it hangs on finalizing / 100% just wait a bit and with ctrl-c you can break it
go to you plugin’s in volumio and enable the plugin… in the search bar you can search on youtube.

I will re-try to install it under /home/volumio without being root.
I did the root because /myvolumio/plugins/music_service/ directories were root.
I will let you know.
Thanks

root is already in many versions gone. with sudo you could elevate it when needed.
password: volumio

Successfully installed it under /home/volumio/youtube2-plugin. Very good. I have a youtube premium account (paid account). But it looks like this plugin only allows for Copyright Free Music Channels only. Maybe there is another option for that.

Thanks again.

youtube premium account (paid account) are not supported by this plugin.
but you could login with a google account.

Those are Front Page Sections which you can configure in the plugin settings.

Thanks I will try (both settings and Google login) those when I return.
Appreciate the help.

your welcome
