Volumio x86 2.246: incomplete audio devices list

Hello Volumio developers,
on my machine (Intel Nuc) the aplay -l command returns:

**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: ALC283 Analog [ALC283 Analog] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 1: ALC283 Digital [ALC283 Digital] Subdevices: 0/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 7: HDMI 1 [HDMI 1] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 8: HDMI 2 [HDMI 2] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 5: A20 [ARCAM USB Audio 2.0], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

But Volumio only lists ALC283 Analog and USB Audio. Is it a bug?

Here is the log:

Yes, it is and it will be taken care of by the UI responsibles.
This is also a feature of the newer Intel audio hardware modules, multiple devices on one audio card.
It will take time to adjust, please bear with us.

If I count correctly, in this case there are five devices on the cardo #0. :astonished:

Just to let you know: if I manually overwrite /etc/mpd.conf file with

device "hw:0,1"

the toslink output correctly works.

Yes, that is probably the first oneā€¦
We have discussed it, it is on the list of things to fix for Stretch
