I bought a Meridian Explorer USB DAC. I can’t set the Volumio volume setting though. It stays at 100. Can this be made working? Could it be the problem that I am tapping the signal from the fixed line-out? The volume control jumps back to 100 though…
It could be possible that the DAC you are using doenst support the hardware volume control.
Try switching to software volume control.
Menu --> Playback --> Volume control mixer
If this works, you can try to set it back to hardware just for checking.

Just read a short review of your DAC, it has two outputs one of those can be controlled by software. The headphone connector is controllable and the combined optical/analog is not controllable. Maybe you could try swapping the connector
