USB output

Hi there, I am new to this forum, but I have got my Raspberry Pi and Volumio up and running today.

I have been able to get Volumio to see my Flac music file on my Synology NAS.

The raspberry Pi is plugged into my Rega DAC via USB.

Problem no sound, I have looked at the settings and the output selector does not give me the option for USB?

Is there any other settings I need to set to select USB or have I missed something?

Be grateful for some assistance.

Thanks John

You could start be checking that the underlying ALSA system has recognised your USB DAC . Connect to your RPi via ssh from another computer and use this command: aplay -l ( that’s a lower case letter L not the numeral one). You would expect to see something like this amongst the comand output:

card 1: default [USB Audio DAC ], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Ok, thanks for the advice. I am going to do what you suggested at the weekend as I need some help with that.

Will post my findings when I have them.

Remember: connect the DAC before you turn Volumio on!

Let me know !

It lists play back hardware.

Card 0 DAC ( USB AUDIO DAC), device 0 USB Audio ( USB Audio)
Subdevices. 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Card 1: ALSA (bcm2835 ALSA), device0: bcm2835 ALSA (bcm2835 ALSA)

Sub devices 8

Then lists subdevives 0-7

Plays through HDMI to monitor OK. Not that I want that?

Have DAC selected and mixer type software and it started working? Already tried all that once or twice so don’t know what I did different?

i am using Ipad and synology NAS just incase I didn’t mention it.

Playing Flac file sounds Good though . Thanks.
