SSH to add on/off button text

Attempted to ssh into volume to add the text that the manufacturer of the button I bought said to do:
echo “out” > /sys/class/gpio/gpio$GPIOpin/direction
echo “1” > /sys/class/gpio/gpio$GPIOpin/value …

No such file or directory. What is the directory structure I should be using to add this code? Can’t find it I’m manual.

I did add the plugin and the button works but I also have a remote I would like to use. Should I just put the scripts in the user config text? Is it just that simple? Is that why no-one is responding. Nubi here!
