Seems Volumio stability and sound quality is working backwards with each new revision 
. Sigh.
EE by education and 20+ years in Operations/IT. Volumio simply will not mount a share from OSX 10.9.x from the UI. In order to do so, use the following command on your Pi:
sudo mount -t cifs ///Music -o username=,password=,ro,nounix,sec=ntlmssp /mnt/NAS
