Retro style network player with Audiophonics I-Sabre ES9038Q2M

Dear colleagues, i would like to introduce my newest project, network player based on Raspberry Pi 4 + I-Sabre ES9038Q2M
On pictures is final assembly, just VU meters are attached to temporary paper plate.
Case on the way : HIFI 2000 Boitier Galaxy GX187 80x124x170 - Audiophonics
Hardware used :
Raspberry Pi 4
I-Sabre ES9038Q2M
AUDIOPHONICS PI-SPC II Power Management board
Step down board 12V - 7V
Low level relay board
VU meter board
Rotary encoder
Power switch

Original power board provides soft start/shutdown in wide range of power input (12V-7V) but has two disadvantages

  • used chip produces lot of heat and cooling is absolutely necessary
  • is very sensitive to every irregularity, then starts shutdown for example when relay switches.
So i decided to add extra step down board to reduce 12 V imput to minimum 7 V and divide VU meter board from whole system, looks like it helps from unvoluntary shutdowns.
I use Amplifier ON/OFF plugin to switch VU on/off

Advantages : Avesome, crisp and clear sound, used with NAD 316bee amp + Quadral M25 Platinum speakers

Disadvantages : Lack of documentation from french comrades, but i was able to dig out some doc from their supports, see link :
