No USB Drive visible but drive is mounted

Hello,

I just updated from 1.2beta to 1.4.
1.2 was not very stable but worked.
Now I have the following problem:
The USB-harddrive ist mounted and accessible, which I checked using ssh.
But in the “Browse” area only “WEBRADIO” ist visible.
I tried updating database, rebooting, reseting, restarting mpd but nothing worked.

I would be clad if someone has an idea.
Thank you
bonfire

looka at what your mount point is via the mount command and then look and see whats in /etc/mpd.conf and look at the Music line to make sure its similar in the paths.

Also FYI, if youre sort of like me and like keeping updated, the other day I did a pacman -Syu and it broke a few things like this…I had to throw a mount command into my fstab to get working again.

GL.

Check that your drive has been properly unmounted before connecting…
Type

dmesg

Thank you for your help! The mount point is OK. So heres dmesg:

THANKS A LOT!

after running ntfsfix everthing was fine!

bonfire

but after rebooting the usb drive is again not visible!

Usb is still not visible!
I can´t use volumio any more.
Has anybody an idea
Bonfire

This is the problem. Your drive is corrupted. This happens particularly when you disconnect from windows without unmounting it. Linux is very choosy when it comes to fat fileystems…

So, try to check it with scandisk on windows, or repair it. And always shut down volumio properly. Then it will work. Another solution could be that you are using lot of devices on your hub, and power is not sufficient for your drive.

This is not a Volumio problem, since your drive /dev/sda1 is properly recognized (and mounted when possible) you’ll have same problem with any linux machine…

Let me know how it goes.

I removed the wlan module to reduce power consumption. Now only the pi an the harddrive are connected.

The harddrive was formated, data copied again, double checked in windows, carefully removed, pi rebooted.
I tried it many times, nothing worked. No library is visible.
It worked (even with wlan) with the older version of volumio.

What I don’t understand is the fact, that the harddrive is mounted and all data can be accessed manually
with ssh. Why is the drive not visible for volumio?

Greetings
Bonfire

While the database is updating I can see the USB device in the “browse”-area
and I can access the folders and files at the harddrive.

When the update is ready only webradio is visible in the browse area.

It seems to be a volumio error.

Greetings Bonfire

I too am having the same problem running Volumio 1.1 and 1.3Beta on Compulab Utilite. On both versions Webradio only is visible. I am a novice and am not sure how relevant this might be, but in both versions the FUSE module has not been loaded. In version 1.3 Beta Wlan() is not loaded either. I run Volumio on my Pi and am very impressed ,so much so that when I saw Volumio was available for the Utilite I purchased one. I hope the USB drive problem is sorted quickly (and the lack of wireless) is rectified quickly so that I can us the Utilite. I should add that the drives (3) tried on the utilite run perfectly on the Pi (early ver). Many thanks and look forward to the day I can use the Utilite.

I would just like to add to my previous comment…the version of Volumio I run on the Pi is !.1. My Utilite is the standard model. The 1.3Beta.img file downloaded for the Utilite, when run reports on my monitor as version 1.2? One last niggle is that the BOOT screen output has been suppressed. I do not understand suppressing an immediate source of information? I look forward to reading any comments.

I too have the same problem with my USB HD. The above post by Michaelangelo did not solve the problem. AFAIK, mmcblk0p1 refers to MMC Memory which is where the volumio resides, not the USB HD.

So please, any solution here? My MMC memory is only 7 GB while my HD Music is much larger than that.

My apology, I skipped this. So it is a power problem but also the number of available USB ports of Raspberry Pi (only two). 1 port for USB DAC, 1 port for USB HD (externally powered). The microUSB power must also be connected.

There you go, the USB 3.0 Hard Disk is there and the song plays.

Thank you Michaelangelo. I’ve been a fan since Raspy Fi.
