No sound with KEF X300A's and Volumio 2.041

I have an IQAudio Pi-DAC+ on my old RPi B+, but thought I’d hook up the USB output to my home office KEF X300A speakers which takes USB input and has an internal DAC. I configured Volumio to use the USB output, set the Mixer to both None and Software, but can’t get any audio output. When I try to play a music stream I get the error “Failed to open audio output”.

The Pi definitely recognizes the KEF USB DAC, I can see it in alsamixer. Any suggestions to get this working?

I’ve attached the output of “alplay -l” and “dmesg” below. Tried to attach it as a file but got errors that files of extension “txt” are not allowed.
