Just wanted to say that I tried setting up multiroom music in anger on Friday. The idea being that I could feed my Cyrus streamer from a Volumio in the living room and be synced to the one that drives the speakers in the garden.
Absolutely stunned by the results. While the iOS app is a bit sucky, set up via the web interface was trivial and the quality through the Streamer’s in built DAC was highly impressive (I’d only used DAC+ boards diving a big old Rotel 6 channel power amp for the various zones). Moving from living room to garden is absolutely seamless. No detectable time difference.
I guess if you were playing the same signals in the same source there might be a difference, but that’s not the point!
Now I just need to set up my OpenLuup system to allow me to alter the volume in the garden without having to open the app.
