I have experimented some numerical clipping with software sometime : a dirty sound. And the sound became clean when I turned the level down on the computer and increased the sound on my amplifier. My interpretation is that, probably, the numerical operations done by the software on the volume ended with too large numbers in the pcm flow, and these numbers became in the good range after decreasing the sound in the software.
So now my question on mpd : is there a risk that I face numerical clipping if I put the volume to one on mpd. Or is it the case that volume to 100% on mpd doesn’t move the pcm numbers and that volume to less than 100% decrease the pcm numbers sent to the dac ?
