Looking for any experience of users successfully using Volumio 2 hotspot as an internet access point ( = the hotspot also provide internet access coming from the wired port of the machine [raspberry pi in my case])

assuming you have one wired and one wireless connection, you will at least have to configure some iptables rules in the operating system. Raspbian or the x86 image being Debian based, you’ll want to look for a guide like this.
On the other hand I would not recommend such a configuration. Depending on your available network hardware or budget you’ll be better off with a dedicated WLAN solution, especially from a performance and security point of view.
