On an x86 system you should find an option to display Volumio’s UI via HDMI video output on the system settings page: Look out for “Video Output Options” and enable “User Interface Via HDMI”.

With an x86 setup you do not have to set anything, UI via hdmi is enabled by default. Whether the Waveshare LCD & touch interface will work with x86 is another story. You may be the first one trying this.

My firend, NEVER get rid of that DAC HAT you have there. It is one of the very best I have heard and it is simply amazing, ESPECIALLY for the cost. I had 3 and am waiting to save for some extra ones. The noise floor on it is unreal! IT is the only one that comes side by side to my Ian Canada setup.
Anyhow, excellent choice.

I would like to share with you my latest streamer project with volumio and some UI customization based on 2aCD project :

Case: chasis from old deck with a little adaptation;
Front panel: this is tailor made glass (cheap one simple glass) - then car wrap 100% black on the back of glass with rectangle space for screen (this is the moment where you need precision or use local car wrapping company ) and on the front of glass there is tinting film for car windows (to reduce contrast between screen and black frame).

Costs (but please notice - this prices are from my country which is Poland and my own experience, each region could have diferent prices, except pi2aes - it cost now 2021.02.07: 150$ without shipping):

• chasis (old and used one): 10-20eur
• glass front with wrapping: 25-30eur
• rpi4: 80-100eur
• screws and slats for fixing the screen, connector, cables: 5-10eur
• screen/display 70-80eur
• volumio: free
• hard work (ok maybe not necessarily hard but own ), some programming in css, couple changes in setup, patience: only time and frustrations

In summary minimum setup = 190-240eur

• optional linear power supply: 100-200eur
• optional good quality hat (cheapest starting from 40eur; in my case it is pi2aes PI2AES - PRO AUDIO SHIELD - Pi2 Design): 150-250eur

so extra/additional/optional version = 250-450eur

Summary:

Total minimum version: 190-240eur
Total with optional components: 440-690eur
