I need a software volume control because my DAC doesn’t handle hardware one.
There is two choice with Volumio : using software control of mpd, or create a software volume control with alsa using softvol.
both are working, and the big advantage of alsa softvol, is that you can manage volume even with spop.
now, my question is : which one is better ? I struggle to find how alsa manages volume, 16b or 24b o 32 ?
Don’t need a answer such as "use your amplifier to set the volume, or hardware is better …)
Does anyone knows a link about that ?
