24 bit depth files reported as 32bit when playing

Hi folks

My library is a mix of 16/44.1 ALAC files and some various 24/88-24/192 files. Anytime I play the higher bit depth files it erroneously reports them as 32 bit depth.

My DAC is a Cambridge Audio DacMagic plus (max 24/192) fed via USB from a PI4 so I know the reported bit depth on the screen is wrong.

16/44.1 files read correctly. Is this a bug or is there some setting I am missing?

ALAC, don’t know why, are played by mpd at 32 bits.
In any case, don’t worry, it’s still bit perfect (just some zeroes added)

Thanks! Strange, but obviously it has to be 24 or I’d imagine the DAC would throw a fit.

I suppose I could convert my entire library to FLAC (since m4a is just a container), but iOS and all that.

Thanks for allaying my concerns.
