Something I’m not understanding - The RTL8188eu chipset is supported by distros 3.18.xx natively, and uname -l shows volumio 1.55 is built on 3.18.5+, so why then is the networking section of the web interface showing “interface not present”?

Is the new “Official” Raspberry Pi dongle compatible?

raspberrypi.org/products/usb-wifi-dongle/

Based on BCM43143 chipset

I’ve just got one and can’t get it working…

I’ll get one and make it work, seems essential to support it…

Adapter Name: TP-LINK TL-WN725N v2
Chipset: rtl8188eu
Driver/Firmware: Driver installation instructions: raspberrypi.org/forums/view … 82#p462982
Working with Volumio: After you install driver

any luck with this?

i have tried a wipi and canakit dongle with no luck. not sure if its the hw, sw, or me! lol

think i need to find and install the drivers/firmware for my adapters:

wipi BCM43143
or
canakit ralink RT5370

anyone have suggestions as to best place to find these?
also any guidance regarding how to update (i.e. instructions)?
(i do know how to get into my OS via putty, just not a linux expert)

Thk you!

I have just got the"Official" Raspberry Pi dongle working by following this thread:

https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/new-raspbian-and-noobs-releases/#comment-1040775

$ git clone --depth 1 git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kern … rmware.git
$ cd linux-firmware
$ sudo cp -R * /lib/firmware

I’m not sure if copy * is necessary as there’s rather a lot of firmware that gets copied down and I think the BCM43143 firmware is only about 300k

BTW tripwr1964 are you sure wipi is based on BCM43143?

You can be safe just copying only the BCM43143 firmware…
Bu anyway, copyning everything will not be a problem…

Alright, i give… Been working on this wifi thing off and on for couple months now and not getting anywhere.
Need a hint on what to look at next (i am a beginner at linux… so be gentle)

wifi stick is EDIMAX EW-7811un (realtek RTL8188cus)
volumio version 1.55

Looks like the usb recognizes the stick and the drivers are loaded.
Here is the latest:
sudo lsusb
sudo lsmod
sudo ifconfig -a
sudo dmesg
pastebin.com/a4cUAX8J

can someone help me sort this out? thank you!
