Why does Volumio require write access to the music library

Hi there,

newb here, so please be nice

I’m reding through the docs and the “Mounting an NFS share” doc on https://volumio.github.io/docs/Good_to_Knows/Mounting_an_NFS_Share says that I need to configure the share in read/write mode. Now, until now I was treating my collection as a set of immutable files (linux filesystem attribute “immutable” set) So, even if I do allow writes for the NFS share, any writes will fail. So, I guess my question is, what sort of data does volumio try to write to the share? Is it just for mp3 metadata?

The short answer is that I don’t think it does. The description comes from Synology’s general guide to setting up NFS access. Please feel free to try restricting access to read only, and report back here your findings

I’m using Volumio with a readonly NFS share for years without any issue.
