I installed Volumio on a RPi 3. I am using the HDMI out to my receiver. I thought that might sound better then the 3.5mm jack. My question is it possible to a desktop client on the Volumio system to launch a browser and display the volumio.local web page?

Where should this WebUI be displayed? If you have a monitor hooked up to your HDMI, you could use the Touch Display plugin.

Not sure what device you have plugged into the HDMI, but you could also just enable the Kiosk mode, without a touch display.
Not entirely sure if its exclusive to x86 devices, but there might be a toggle in the settings/Setup wizard to enable HDMI output and thus the kiosk mode.
