Volumio & DLNA

I recognize that I’m skating on the thin end of the rink at this point, but I was hoping I was just doing something stupid, rather than impossible.

I have a new CHIP computer and someone much smarter than I posted directions on how to get Volumio running on it.
https://bbs.nextthing.co/t/installing-volumio-on-chip/2181

I followed the instructions and Volumio seems to be running. The only problem is that I can’t connect to my music file/dlna server. I’ve tried both connecting via DLNA and by mounting a Samba share, but I don’t seem to be getting anywhere.

Samba - it appears that the OS doesn’t have smbfs or cifs compiled into the kernel, so for now Samba is out.

DLNA - I enable DLNA indexing, but nothing seems to happen. I left it run overnight, but no indication that anything is happening.

So my question is - is there any way to ensure that Volumio is indexing my DLNA server and/or troubleshoot the connection?

Thanks

Since Chip uses the Raspberry Pi image, you might want to look here:
