Volumio 3.xxx-No ethernet or WiFi on RPi3B+ with Allo Digione Signature

This is a community forum, for support specifically with myVolumio, email techsupport at volumio dot org!

It seems to be a faulty ethernet port. I’ve rebooted router, iPad with Volumio. I’m at a loss. Work quite well for the last 5 months.

I’m not sure what you are asking here Frank1. You simply make a statement that your device is not working.

Has your IP address changed?

It’s just frustrating to have Volumio work so stable for 5 months—to suddenly stop. Logging into my Xfinity account, it states my RPi has an IP address: 10.0.0.210 and not connected. It’s not a static address.
I’ve changed the CAT 5 cables, ethernet ports on the modem, and router, reinstalled Volumio on my iPad. Nothing works just the spinning wheel when I try to launch Volumio. It’s been updated thru Volumio settings in late October, I think.

What is also frustrating is; I have no pc to reflash the SD card. Just Apple gear.

If you’re all “Apple gear” then I would have thought you could find the device by name rather than IP address eg. “http://volumiokitchen” or “http://volumiokitchen.local”, whatever you named your device.

Have you looked on your mobile to see if Volumio is broadcasting it’s hotspot? If so, join that network, log on to 192.168.211.1, which will get you to the Volumio UI. Here you can alter the network settings to what you want.

Failing that there are apps you can get for your mobile that search the local network for devices.

Failing that ( ), can you connect your RPi to a monitor & usb keyboard …if so you could see exactly what IP address is being set,or not.

Yes I can see the name of my device: Lily55.

The name is present on my Xfinity Acct.

So you can’t connect to “http://Lily55” or " http://Lily55.local" from a browser?

No I cannot

I forgot to mention, there is no activity at the router or modem (green light) for my RPi.

What do you think of: bad dirty wall wart, or bad (clean power) Shanti, or bad mother board?

Router’s ofen retain device names even when not connected. Your device might have switched to a new IP address. Did you try to look for it with a mobile app network scanner? If your device can’t log onto your router anymore for some reason, then it should launch it’s hotspot to allow you to get to the UI. Did you try this? (Hopefully, you haven’t turned off the hotspot in your network settings).

Bad device & the others are less likely imho.

If you get a nonsense IP assigned to the PI, it might be that the PI could not get a valid IP address.
I would do this:

  • Turn off the router
  • Turn it on
  • Wait 5 minutes (To make sure router is on)
  • Turn on the PI

Do you see it in the network?
If you don’t see it, and there is no activity on the LAN, it might be that your SD Card is corrupted. I would then suggest to get a new SD card, reflash Volumio and start over.

Let us know

Yes. I did find the IP address: 10.0.0.239

What happens if you enter this into a browser?

Could not connect to server.

I fear then that reflashing might be the option for you. If this is the right IP, then it means Volumio is not running (might be due to a bad plugin or a corrupted SD Card)

Ok. I only have a few plugins installed: Radio Paradise, and another I can’t recall. Reflash sounds inevitable. I will get on it ASAP. Thank you for you expertise. And I will follow-up.
