Volumio 3 RC1 - Open Beta Testing

Hello all,

Device : raspberry pi 3 B - Volumio 3
Output : USB audio - ATOLL DAC100 Signature
Log : http://logs.volumio.org/volumiobuster/RXXuIbm.html

Same issue than Volumio 2. I can play a song and skip to another one by myself without any issues, each song is played correctly (Qobuz). But by playing the queue, It is not working anymore. To explain, between two songs (the first and the second in the html log exactly), I get alsa output failed and hw_params shows “closed”. but it seems between the second and the third there is no issue. I clearly don’t understand why sometimes next song is played and sometimes not, why output communication is lost.
I just received from ATOLL provider this DAC is alsa compatible and works from 16bits to 24 bits properly.

Many thanks in advance for any feedback

Hi,

Great news.

Can I use the download of the Tinkerboard version to “beta-test” v3 on Volumio Primo, or will it not work or void warranty?

Please don’t. This image is not optimized for Primo. Primo users will receive the update to V3 when it’s all ready and checked

Hi,
Thanks for your quick answer. I’ll wait then for the checked release for the Primo

Can you please point me to to the EQ? I’m feeling a little bit dumb right now, but after some clicking around, I can not find it…

Go in IP/Dev and enable plugin test mode (as you do to enable SSH)
Then in plugin store, audio interface FusionDsp

Many thanks!
As I use Volumio with headphones most of the time, the crossfeed function will be well used, I believe.
On to testing…

A great “job well done” for the team! I’m using RC1 since day 1 with no issues, AFAIK.

If you set dsp in PEQ mode, you can directly equalize your headphone by selecting in the scrolling list. Settings are loaded from Autoeq.

As I wrote before: Job well done. Congrats and thank you to all the team!

I can confirm that the problem is solved when Artist instead of Albumartist is selected under Music library config. Many thanks!

Just installed the 3.114 on the PI 4 and everything went smoothly. One thing I noticed is that with this RC, I’m unable to play any music, as Spotify seems to be missing in action.

I did find the Spotify Connect plugin available, but when I listen to music, I want to get away from all smart devices, so Spotify Connect is unfortunately not an option.

The way I listen to music, is with a keyboard on my lap and volumio’s big album cover art displayed on my TV.

I tried to find a roadmap, but the name release candidate indicates that Volumio might launch without Spotify integration. Is this the case?

Having said that, the install process went smoothly. Can’t wait to try a version with streaming integration (and the new DSP features) :+1:

The re-introduction of plugins (Spotify, in this case) is an ongoing process for Volumio 3 release candidates. Please bear with the Volumio Team as plugins are checked, to ensure a smooth transition.

Thank you for the info! Didn’t mean to sound like I’m rushing things. I can happily use 2.x version until then. Version 3 does sound like a game changer!

Realized I have USB drive that had some song on it and decided to test it out. I might have discovered a bug in the process.

I can browse through Genres (R&B in this case), but nothing happens if I press play (or clear queue and play) on one of the albums displayed:

If I click on the first album (Alicia Keys) from this view (instead of play), this is the view I get:

This is what happens if I navigate to this album from the Genre menu. If I navigate to this album from the Album menu, the album opens up and can be played normally:

Could you please repeat the log, it needs to be from a fresh reboot immediately after reproducing the problem. The previous one is way too long for us to analyse.

Ver 3.114 , Plugin FusionDsp ver 0.0.8
Log: http://logs.volumio.org/volumiobuster/4UDxH7S.html

When I have the FusionDsp active I have to click two or three times on the radio channel in the queue or the play botton to make it start to play, local/nas files works fine.
If I deactivate the plugin I only need a single click to make a radio channel play

Title: Problem with Qobuz and purchased tracks, when DSP plugin is enabled

I don’t own a Qobuz subscription, but I have bought albums and tracks from Qobuz. To my surprise, I can access and play these purchases in version 3.114, which was unexpected and great!

There is a small problem though: Each track I play from the single tracks I have purchased, stop playing audio abruptly 3-5 seconds before the song ends. Also next song from the queue doesn’t start playing when the previous track ends.

Here is a picture of my queue:

So what happened is that audio of Levitating stopped 3-5 seconds to early. Next song should have been Another One Bites The Dust, but it didn’t start playing.

This happens when I have the DSP plugin enabled. If I disable the DSP plugin, the next song in the queue starts playing as expected.

Does anyone have this issue (in all versions) where tapping the play/pause button sometimes doesn’t register (on tablet touchscreen, in web interface)… like you have to tap it a couple of times for it to play or pause?
