I have been running Volumio 2 since 2018. I am using a Pi 3B+ with IQ audio digiamp plus.
My music is on a usb hard drive with independent power supply. I have set up a push button/ led to start up and shut down Volumio. I’ve also installed a rotary encoder used as a volume control.
Having read various reports that Volumio 3 has a lot of improvements over V2, I have finally installed it.
I am impressed. SMOOTHER ACTIONS, NO LAG, MUCH IMPROVED SOUND QUALITY.
I don’t really like the new GUI as displayed on my PC screen but I only really use the PC screen for admin and setup purposes so it’s not a big issue. On my phone it is perfect.
I’ve managed to install the rotary encoder plugin and the GPIO buttons plugin and both work perfectly.
All that remains to do now is to set up my playlists
Well done everyone involved in the development of Vol. 3 including those of you who have got the plugins set up.
