Volumio 2 on NanoPi Neo

which version are you running now and from where was it downloaded?
It is one with myVolumio support?
There is a new one published in the NanoPi Neo3 thread.
I built one for the Neo2, with myVolumio functionality, but don’t know where to put it as there is no thread for it yet.

I got it from the google-drive link from nikkov

Can you share the link in this thread?

you did not answer my question yet
Which version did you have? Obviously without myVolumio.
I do not necessarily want to compete with the work @nikkov has done.
The “myVolumio” version is still using an older kernel, I will add the link in a new thread so things do not get mixed up.
OTA may not work, so you need to flash.

sorry I didn’t know the answer, I am flashing his latest image right now. I suppose without myvolumio.

I have a few spare NanoPi Neo2 and I want to use one for a tiny system to have Volumio in my car

ok, the Neo2 thread will be added sometime today when I’m near my desk.

Is there any reason to use the old kernel? I have already builded several versions on latest kernel versions and they all work great. And in the latest kernel I2S driver already supports up to 24 bit without any patches.

I updated nanopi(neo, neo2, air, plus2, 2black and cubietruck) images to current Volumio version + resolved certificate issue (marked as 2.916 version). link

Hi nikkov, thanks for your work on NEO. I’v a NanoPi Neo1.3, and the image not work, the image start, but no ssh and no volumio.local answer. Can you guide to connection?
thanks

It’s may be this issue:
Attention! By default image use i2s in slave mode and without external clock source will not work! You can change i2s mode to master by edit armbianEnv.txt, just replace
user_overlays=sun8i-h3-i2s0-slave
to
user_overlays=sun8i-h3-i2s0-master

Hi nikkov, thanks for your answer, ok for the i2s, but I loaded a image in my Nio 1.31 and nothing appair.
The Nio leds blink and the image start, but I can not comunicate in SSH or simply calling from browser volumio.local/ , can you conferm this problem?
thanks.

mabe can you geve me the right name of version for NEO 1.3 of using image? I using the Volumio2.916-2021-10-14-nanopineo.7z
mabe something is wrong?
thanks

and just another question is, can I access trough ssh?
thanks

You must change i2s settings even if you not planned using i2s dac, because with settings by default Volumio can’t start and you can’t access web-interface. Volumio try play start sound to i2s DAC, but just freeze because I2S clocks not exists.
Image Volumio2.916-2021-10-14-nanopineo.7z I tested on my own NanoPi Neo 1.31 and all works fine.
About SSH, please refer to Volumio docs: SSH - Volumio Documentation (How to enable SSH)

Hi Nikkov, very thanks for your hep. It was 2 errors, the first was the clolck and I changed to master, the second was the supply voltage to 4.3V on usb. Changing adapter everyting start good.
very thanks…

another information, can we know info about the output format of i2S? I explane what.
I loaded spotify plugin on volumio, it work with radio and I can listen the music, but when I pass input to spotify, the output format change.
If I configure some pins for know the format, i can configure the dac from microcontroller.
There is some gpio or serial data to create this function?
thanks

Hi,
It is used in combination with nano Pi Neo and nano hat pcm5102a.
I downloaded and used “Volumio 2.916-2021-10-14-nanopineo.7z” the other day.
In order to turn on I2S, I rewrote “user_overlays = sun8i-h3-i2s0-slave” in “armbianEnv.txt” to “user_overlays = sun8i-h3-i2s0-master” and started it.
At that time, the maximum value of the FLAC file that can be played will be up to 48KHz / 24bit.
How can I make more sound?

Hi @nikkov

any chance you can create a Volumio3 image for NanoPi?

I built the image some time ago, but without myvolumio it is impossible to install plugins and the new version looks less functional. So i don’t know why use volumio 3 instead v.2.

hi @nikkov

the plugins can be installed manually on Volumio3 without myvolumio, the reason I’m asking is because the plugin FusionDSP can’t work on Volumio2.

For me this is a big advantage for moving to Volumio3 on my NanoPi

I built image Volumio3 for nanopi neo2 you can find it on google drive . I tested only that it boot and show web-interface.
