Sparky SBC

Hi
Not shure if this should be in bug reports or not allo issue’s seem to be all over the place in the forum.

I cannot keep a wifi connection i have been using sparky+Kali+piano Lan connected and then the release of sparky was updated and i read someplace that the wifi issue’s where fixed .

I loaded the latest sparky image 2.058-2017-01-22- yet everytime i set wireless networking to on and set my wifi details and reboot the option it is back in the off position also if/when it has registered an ip address it is a 196. xxx. address which i believe to be an internal windows ip even stranger because all of my home network address has a prefix of 10.0.x.x .

wireless adaptors used are a edimax usb nano and asus usb nano (the little one’s)

If i asign a manual address 10.0.0.40 for example the address will register and the system says wireless network succesfully restarted this will keep that address but the lan and wireless have the same mac address as the lan connection i can connect on the 10.0.0.40 ip but as soon as the lan cable is removed i loose the wireless connection also’ i have tried multiple ways to resolve this but nothing is working for me .

I have reset the sparky unit numerous times rebooted the router and the pc i work from but nothing is resolving this’ am i doing something wrong ? it should not be this hard to set up a wireless connection

Anybody else suffering the same ? or is there something else i can try to resolve this before i suffer complete hair loss :open_mouth:

Hi,
if you haven’t done it already, could you try inserting the dongle in the usb3.0 port and see if that makes any difference?
EditIf it does not work, could you do sudo journalctl -b and Report?

Hi -Gé-
As requested Edimax usb nano into usb 3 port no different at all it seems same result .

Hi,I really need a complsete journal report, put it in a “code” block or add it as a text attachment:

sudo journalctl -b > /mnt/INTERNAL/boot.log

Then you can copy the boot.log from the smb share which Volumio exposes and add it here.
-Gé-

Im having the exact same issue…seems maybe the Edimax driver is not there? I would really like this to work otherwise its back to RPi3 and hope the Allo Piano 2.1 is in that build.

I’m also using the full VANA setup as shipped from Allo. Really had hopes this would just work out of the box so to speak.

Plug the wifi dongle into the USB 3.0 port (the blue one), this way it will work

This is why we recommend our WIFI dongle…its tested.

It would appear from the download counts that there are some 48000+ instances of the Sparky download out there - even if thats say 4-5 per user thats a lot of Sparky out there…with Volumio … great to see :sunglasses:

After a few problems with my sparky set up i am happy to report a fully functioning set up now and my previous suspicions of a board fault are gone thanks to Gé for his time and patience with this and to all others who contributed to making this a great platform for in my case a quality music reproduction system.

Hi,

Not sure if this should be here, but any idea when the sparky build for volumio with the piano 2.1 dac ( dual mono ) be out.

we’ve done the first series of tests with the update piano2.1 drivers
Today I’ll integrate a driver fix from Allo and prepare another image for us to test with volumio.
Just hold for a couple of days and we can tell you more.

thank you  looking forward to it

My FLAC files are not being listed in my Sparky SBC VANA Player setup. I am able to play and see all MP3 files. Is there something that needs to be done? I have a folder named FLAC with several subfolders containing FLAC files of different albums and bitrates.

Please try the latest version which was released today

I tried the latest image and it will not boot my sparky. Is anyone else having this problem. Watching the console I get several stack exceptions after seeing

3.545468] [] (panic+0xa0/0x1e4) from [] (do_exit+0x894/0x968)

Booting process stops three exceptions after the panic is displayed.

I copied the image twice to the memory card using dd.

Any advice?

Thanks!

I’ve just tried to reproduce this with a freshly flashed v2.282, and it boots fine. Do you have another sd card to try?
