maybe the following question has already been asked, but in this case I haven’t seen the topic - sorry.
Does Volumio affect the sound quality in any way when changing the volume?
Is it a change that is applied to the signal or is it an additional information sent to the DAC?

In order not to truncate bits from your output, you would either have the volume at 100% or directly disabled.
If this is an inconvenience, try using the 'hardware; mode, as this will let your DAC perform the work of the volume mixer. This is usually better than ‘software’, as the DAC will have lower noise and truncating bits will happen there, not at the computer output. Also, it will probably maintain good dynamic range.
