Just downloaded and installed the new release for the beaglebone black. I’m having an issue, it appears that the samba install is not complete. I’m missing smbd and nmbd. The config file smb.conf is there but not the daemons. Should I just reinstall samba? Apt-get wants to bring a bunch of other stuff along with it.

Thank-you, the command installed samba and I am now able to see the shared folders on my network. Was samba left out of the BBB image for a reason?
No it was not. This is a optimisation error.
BTW, have you looked at the FAQ? The answer to your question can be found there. If you didn’t understand it please let me know how and what i should change.
Thank-you for the answer. You are right it is in the FAQ, if I had bothered to look. My only, really lame, excuse is that I glance at the last post date and figure it wouldn’t have anything about this issue. I know better know.

Ah alright, I’ll take a look at that and make the updates more clear from the outside. I bet more people will skip the FAQ for the same reason.
