Hello,

I’ve upgraded my Odroid C2 with from Volumio V2.129 to V2.344 and now I have an issue with enabling software volume control. After setting “Mixer Type” from None to Software, volumio does not react anymore on browser access. However, ping is still possible. After shutting down and turning on again, volumio is available again, but the mixer type setting “software” was not stored and there is again None…
Is this a known issue? Is there another way to set the mixer type setting (maybe ssh access?) or a fix for this ???

I’ve just done another test: Starting music playback (I’m using I2S DAC), playback is running with 100 percent volume, setting mixer-type to “Software” -> music stops playing, Volumio does not react anymore…

Hi i have odroid C1+ with DAC(not the + version) when I enable the software mixer the gui crashess. I would appreciate any help.

As I know odroids HiFi Shield and Shield+ have no hardware volume control. I newer try SW mixer, I use HiFi Shield+ with mixer NONE. HiFi Shild 2 is OK for HW mixer.
System is similar like yours: C2 + VU7 touch display + volumio 2.344

Hi,

I’ve just updated to version 2.513, but the issue above still persists. Software mixer does not work. Volumio crashes when I set the mixer mode to software. Is it possible to activate the software mixer in some config files? Maybe the issue is only present on the UI side?

Confirmed.
This needs to be investigated, I’ve added this to my to-do list, but don’t expect anything until the end of January.

We have investigated and can reproduce the issue easily, including on C1+. It must be related to the way the hifi shield has been implemented, but we still have no solution for it yet.
Note: software volume control is never a good solution, you will loose audio sound quality.

We are now working on implementing the Odroid DACs for the C4 in the same way as DACs have implemented on PI and Tinkerboard.
Hopefully we can have another look at the C1/C2 code at the same time.
