RPI 4 for Katana DAC

Is there any advantage in terms of better sound quality from the Katana DAC if the underlying RPi 3B+ is upgraded to RPI 4 ? Has anybody tried it ?

I got the answer to this question in the DIYAUDIO forum where the Allow Shanti PSU was being discussed.

The RPi 4 has heating issues. And sonically there is no advantage.

So its better not to use it.

I’m trying to make working the katana dac with rpi 4, but I need help.

Only first time with new sd card it worked after setup wizard. On next reboot when I tried to start a web radio, it appear this error: “Failed to open “alsa” [alsa]; Failed to open ALSA device “hw:1,0”: No such file or directory”.

Katana is working fine with RPI 3.

On RPI 4 I use 2 power sources, no undervoltages detected.

Already tried to switch off i2s, reboot, switch on i2s, reboot, and then nothing append.

Volumio version 2.698.

This is my aplay -l result of RPI 4, and katana is not listed as in RPI 3:

**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****

I hope someone can help me, I’d like to dual boot volumio and libreelec for blu-ray player, that’s why I need RPI 4.

Thank you
