I just downloaded an image to SD, plugged into my raspberry pi B, and… Failed to boot.
Any ideas?

Everything is OK with your device.
As it has been said many time,Volumio comes with no graphical interface. You have to access it with a other device, computer, smartphone and direct the web browser to its ip address, or to volumio.local (from a PC)
