I’ve happily used a first generation Airport Express for years, over S/PDIF, but recently had to switch to analog. The quality is still sufficient, however shortly after I stop the stream the device will send its DAC to sleep, producing a very audible pop. Would something similar happen with, say, a HifiBerry?
