Some theming details are better configured per client rather than per device. Web storage and other recent enhancements to browsers make such changes easier to implement than in earlier generations of web applications.
A user may want a dark theme displayed on a mobile device, and a light theme for a desktop client, and may wish for all such settings to apply equal to all devices in a zone.
