OK to run Volumio 3 off a (fast) USB stick

Hi all
I am running Volumio x86 on a NUC7PJYH with 16GB RAM. I am currently running it off a 32GB USB Stick capable of reading at 80Mb/s. Is there any benefit of putting Volumio on the internal SSD of the NUC, or does Volumio run in RAM?

majority of the OS runs from memory.
Running from the SSD will improve the boot speed and you’re better protected against file corruption.
