I have the same problems (pops and clicks) on Odroid C2 as those described in usb-waveio-xmos-clicks-odroid-t5299-30.html. I am usin an external USB audio interface Behringer UMC 202HD.
I have to note, I have not tried the Volumio yet. Please, ignore this if you were only concerned about the Volumio specific reports. Would you point me to an existing C2 bug report/discussion then?
The output is from Libeelec, but I’ve had similar problems with official Odroid C2 Ubuntu image.

Changing IRQ63 affinity to another CPU almost solves the issue. I still can hear pops and clicks during 44K/16 FLAC playback if I load the system and/or Kodi UI (by endless scrolling through the songs list, for example). But without affinity change it is much worse. Have not tried the OTG yet.
I would post this in the C2 LibreElec thread on the HK Odroid forum, libreelec has been configured completely different plus you should get direct support there. There is not much I can contribute with LibreElec as I don’t use it, sorry.

Basically it is Hardkernel who needs to offer a solution, we can only tune a little.
I’m hoping for the mainline kernel, this is where we will have re-written usb drivers.
But, due to the work on other boards I might have some things to improve, it will take a little time though

I also made few tests until yet, all without success.
I run a current LibreElec, sound via HDMI without any issues, sound via USB Odroid SPDIF http://amzn.to/2jWS2Zn with many cracks and stops.
With same USB Audio converter, a Raspberry 3 is without issues.

Yes and no.
These are usb driver issues, but do not expect any further improvement with the currently supported kernel 3.14.x
That is a dead end now that mainline kernel support for the C2 is on its way (see the Hardkernel forums).
Though support seems fairly stable, I cannot switch yet. It would make no sense as long as i2s audio is missing.
As soon as it is included, I will upgrade the C2 volumio image.
I have also problem with DSD.
I have Soekris DAM R2R Dac with Diyinhk xmos receiver.
No problems with Rpi2 and Moode/Ruune, No problems with Odroid C2 Rune.
It just doesn’t lock with either DSD Dierct or DoP shows 44,1 and lots of loud hissing.
No problem with all other material 24/192 plays fine.

I have Volumio Version volumio-2.395-2018-04-22 running and using it in combination with a RME ADI 2 DAC.
Unfortunately, I hear regular clicks during playback. After rebooting the clicks seem to disappear, but one can hear scratches now…
Is there a workaround or solution for this problem? I read some older postings about switching CPU etc. but this does not really work for me.

The cpu affinity has been taken care of in the C1/C2 images and have shown to work in a number of cases.
USB Audio seems to be a pita for a number of DAC manufacturers, especially when it comes to RPI and in this case, also the Odroid C2.
With the RPi and its known usb issues, the RME ADI 2 DAC seems not to work very well, but I have no idea why the Odroid C2 misbehaves as well.
The cause could be bad implementation of standards, lacking expertise I have to assume RME did it right.
Bad usb drivers or usb drivers missing critical updates can cause problems too.
The 4.17.x kernel supports the C2 and has up-to-date usb drivers, raising hope.
Right now it makes no sense yet to build with mainline until Baylibre, on assignment by Amlogic to bring SoC sound support, is also finished with it.
Perhaps others have similar issues? I might reconsider a dev version in case I get multiple requests (> 5)

thanks for the quick reply and clear words. Too bad seeing the potential of odroid C2 unutilised, but I am no coder… Since, I’m looking forward to new versions for C2 and will check the corresponding threads from time to time.
I have noticed, Hardkernel now more or less officially moved to kernel version 3.16 for the C2.
Without giving you too much hope, I will give it a try and build a version with that kernel.
Being quite busy, don’t expect a reply within the next few days, could be a week or two.
And doing this, still gives no guarantee that it changes anything towards usb audio…
In the meanwhile I tried Libreelec, but it has the same issues. Further, I tried Archphile and it works like a charm.
I’m not sure, what this means for Volumio development, but maybe this information is helpful.
However, I’m looking forward to your new release, since I like the Volumio GUI and support of TFTs.
