Please explain the differences between Update and Rescan under My Music

‘Update’ looks for changes, ‘rescan’ reindexes your entire library.

Does Volumio perform ever perform an automatic update when new tracks/music is added to My Music network drive(s)?

If so when?

so rescan “includes” update; technically you never need to ‘update’?

I suppose not, but I f you have a large audio collection, then it will be much quicker to update than rescan. The indexing process is fairly resource intensive, so may degrade the UI responsiveness for lower powered devices.
