Is it possible to put a “standard” music selection interface into the web browser, like those found on itunes, media monkey, moode and many others?
3 Lists across the top - Genre, Artist, Album, driving a song list below?

Not currently.
Personally, I think the Music Library back and front ends in Volumio are overdue for an overhaul, and it has been mentioned a lot of times over the lifetime of Volumio2. Hopefully when Volumio3 finally debuts in the the very near future, this situation may be revisited.
