I am planning to build the whole home audio with multi zone say 6 zones around the house with multiple inputs and control pads on the wall. Is it possible to use volumio as a player as well as a controller for all the zones if yes then can how.

Yes and no. Volumio doesn’t work as a multiroom server, so you will need to use the LMS plugin for that.
I use Volumio with the LMS plugin, and then stream using the airplay plugin in LMS. I use Volumio only as the base OS and as headless players. Works quite well.
