MPD No Database error

For some reason, my NAS drives are no longer showing up in my Music Library. When I go to sources, they’re there and mounted. When I do an Update or Rescan of the library, nothing happens.

When I remount one of the NAS folders, I get “Error while scanning database, Error: Command failed: /usr/bin/mpc update mpd error: No databse”.

I tried deleting /var/lib/mpd/tag_cache, and then recreating by “touch /var/lib/mpd/tag_cache”, and also setting permissions with “chmod 777 /var/lib/mpd/tag_cache”. But that didn’t make a difference.

Any suggestions for how to solve this?

Do you have the Music Services Shield plugin installed and enabled?

I experimented with that on a Pi Zero install of Volumio v3 and got that error. I had to remove it and reboot, then everything worked fine again.

No, don’t have any plugins like that installed.

Last night I was able to rebuild the database, and then today I turn it on and it’s gone again. So frustrating.
