Massive stuttering in all playback sources

Good morning, I have now set up my Raspi 3 with Hifiberry Amp2 and Volumio.
The issue I face is massive stuttering in all source, be it Internet radio, mp3 via USB or from a media server.
It’s basically 1 second on 1 second off.
I have not really any clue, as it’s also for local mp3s it cannot really be the network, and the cpu usage also looks legit.

Does anyone have any idea? The stuttering is the same with a Pi 2b I tried before. Can the Amp2 be defective?

here’s the logfile: http://logs.volumio.org/volumio/RvUdaD1.html

Do you have another power supply you can test it with? If that’s not the cause, it must be the amp board.

Hi,
I am using a power supply with 12 V, max 75W 6.5 A max. I’m actually waiting for this one: GST60A18-P1J Schaltnetzteil 18V DC 3,33A, which should arrive in the next days, so I will test it then.
So this sound like a power supply issue?

I’ve experienced comparable issues, but only in systems with complex plugins installed (e.g. FusionDSP); these issues were more present in combination with less powerful Pi’s (notably the zero’s).

Just a wild guess, are both the wireless and ethernet enabled? It could be the source of the problem.

You haven’t loaded plugins like FusionDSP and (MPD-OLED or Peppymeter)?

Hi,
nope I have not loaded any plugins, it is a pristine installation.
I’ll check up on the wifi/lan possibility, tx.

If you are using a wireless connection, disable it and use a wired connection. That may help/cure the problem

Hi, thank you for the tips. Unfortunately, nothing helped so I am sending the Amp2 back and will try with another amplifier. I will let you know if that worked.

So with https://www.inno-maker.com/product/hifi-amp-hat/ instead of the HifiBerry Amp2, it’s working just fine
