right now, i was able to compare my two amps.
One DAC switching to both amps, using same loudspeaker (Elac FS78)
both amps are playing in the ‘middle’ league (Marantz ~350€, Elac ~700€)
I was using the volumio primo (ES9028) DAC player. 
take a short cut: very similar, but i found the marantz does have more heart, the Elac was more ‘dry-technical’.
My thoughts now are that it makes sense in a Class D amplifier to take a warm, clear DAC (like the Mamboberry), and in the classic Class A amplifier, many listeners prefer a dry, clear DAC( like Boss, IQaudIO). What do you mean by this idea?
