Logitec Media Server plugin for Volumio

Dear Sayeto,

Just installed the LMS plugin succesfuly. It is active, but when I click on settings and then the Logitec Media Server button. Nothing happen, the screen is hanging for some time and come back to Volumio home page…

Hi Dominique,

Which version of Volumio are you using? The button only works from 2.260 and higher :wink:
The LMS webconsole is reachable on: http://{YOUR PI IP-ADDRESS}:9000 (i.e. the IP-address of your pi over port 9000)

UPDATE: I see I made a typo in the Plugin annoucement, mea culpa. The Volumio version must be 2.260+ (this one is not yet downloadable).

This explains! I have 2.246, so I have to wait…

I have installed the plugin, but for those interested, please note the pre-requisite to have Volumio 2.26 or + installed to make it works.

Hiya Dominque, thanks for the feedback & comments. Does the plugin fulfil your expectations? It sounds a very good one to have on board.

Only the opening of the webpage should require version 2.260 or higher. The rest should work regardless, can you confirm this?
You can connect to the webconsole by using the IP-address of your Pi and port 9000.

No. My Rpi IP address is 192.168.2.142 and when I add :9000, I get the message “site is not accessible”.

I have found that in some occasions the LMS service doesn’t start fashionably the first time, can you try to reboot?

After reboot, the plugin is shown as active,

I get this messgae:

"Ce site est inaccessible

192.168.2.142 n’autorise pas la connexion.
Effectuez une recherche Google sur 192 168 142 9000.
ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED"

It says that the server refuses the connection…

Is the process running? Can you check with patterns please?

Maybe installation was not successful. I have not built in checks for the process.

It might be that the installation went wrong. I can also try to reinstall the plugin…

Edit: done, de-installed, resintalled (much quicker than first time), reboot, no change.

What version of the Raspberry Pi are you using? 1, 2, 3 or zero?

This is a Raspberry 3.

Can you post the output of

cat /var/log/squeezeboxserver/server.log

That should output the logging of LMS, maybe you have some directory rights problem…

The most important ones are:

You could try to over-allow the prefs directory:

chmod 664 -R /var/lib/squeezeboxserver

That might help, but the logging will probably tell us more.

I have entered the command and I get:

“No such file or directory”

Concerning the rights issue, my Volumio configuration is totally out of the box, so I will probably not be the only one facing the issue…

Then I’m affraid the dpkg failed, because it runs under root it should have privileges and create the initial log(s). It’s not that I don’t believe you, but I can’t reproduce the problem, which makes it very hard to fix it for you.

Can you execute ls -al /var/log please?

Also can you check whether you have a deb-package in /home/volumio/logitechmediaserver?
You can manually install it using sudo dpkg -i logitechmediaserver_7.9.0_arm.deb .
If there’s no directory logitechmediaserver and/or no deb-package, your installation failed for some reason. Maybe the wget ran into an error because of network limitations, or something else went wrong.

Depending on the outcome of the above we can analyze the impact, because I’m not sure how many people will actually have the same problem. Maybe the SD-card needs to be reflashed because of corruption in the file-system, causing the download/installation to fail.

So ls -al /var/log returns:

I.e. the LMS installation creates the squeezeboxserver directory and my script chowns it. So again, I think your dpkg failed.

And for the install, I got the “no such file or directory”.

So I will do a fresh install of Volumio on a new SD card next weekend and restart from scratch…

Some news… new installation of Volumio on a new SD card. Plugin installation. I followed the log. No error message. Confirmation that installation was successful.

Activated the plugin and type 192.168.2.142:9000 first, get same error message as before.

Second attenpt. I read this in the explorer bar: “http://192.168.2.142:9000/settings/server/wizard.html

But I get a blank page…

Something new, now the squeezboxserver directory is visible when I enter the ls command. I am moving in the right direction…
