Hi, My DAC no sound

Hello,

I am new here, but I am Volumio user some time ago.

I just bought a chinese DAC, these is my setup:

And in Volumio my configuration is .

I2S DAC: On
DAC Model: Generic I2S DAC

The output of aplay -l is these:

volumio@volumio:~$ aplay -l **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: ALSA [bcm2835 ALSA], device 0: bcm2835 ALSA [bcm2835 ALSA] Subdevices: 4/4 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 Subdevice #1: subdevice #1 Subdevice #2: subdevice #2 Subdevice #3: subdevice #3 card 0: ALSA [bcm2835 ALSA], device 1: bcm2835 IEC958/HDMI [bcm2835 IEC958/HDMI] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: ALSA [bcm2835 ALSA], device 2: bcm2835 IEC958/HDMI1 [bcm2835 IEC958/HDMI1] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 1: Headphones [bcm2835 Headphones], device 0: bcm2835 Headphones [bcm2835 Headphones] Subdevices: 3/3 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 Subdevice #1: subdevice #1 Subdevice #2: subdevice #2 card 2: sndrpihifiberry [snd_rpi_hifiberry_dac], device 0: HifiBerry DAC HiFi pcm5102a-hifi-0 [HifiBerry DAC HiFi pcm5102a-hifi-0] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

But I have no sound, when I play some song the output of aplay -l change to these:

volumio@volumio:~$ aplay -l **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: ALSA [bcm2835 ALSA], device 0: bcm2835 ALSA [bcm2835 ALSA] Subdevices: 4/4 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 Subdevice #1: subdevice #1 Subdevice #2: subdevice #2 Subdevice #3: subdevice #3 card 0: ALSA [bcm2835 ALSA], device 1: bcm2835 IEC958/HDMI [bcm2835 IEC958/HDMI] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: ALSA [bcm2835 ALSA], device 2: bcm2835 IEC958/HDMI1 [bcm2835 IEC958/HDMI1] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 1: Headphones [bcm2835 Headphones], device 0: bcm2835 Headphones [bcm2835 Headphones] Subdevices: 3/3 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 Subdevice #1: subdevice #1 Subdevice #2: subdevice #2 card 2: sndrpihifiberry [snd_rpi_hifiberry_dac], device 0: HifiBerry DAC HiFi pcm5102a-hifi-0 [HifiBerry DAC HiFi pcm5102a-hifi-0] Subdevices: 0/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

The seller say that BCK and DATA are inverse, but if I change the wire I still have no sound.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Alvaro.

I’ve had a couple of generic DAC’s from China, both needed me to do solder bridges on the pcb to set the ID Address, you may need to google the DAC to see if it needs this to set it up.

I seem to recall I had to play about with the settings in the playback section to actually get them to work as well

Have you tried to set Dac as hifiberry?

Sorry, I am from Spain, my english is not very good…

I not found nothing on google about soldier bridges…

Yes, I try both options, as Generic and as hifiberry, but the result is the same, no sound

Can you post pictures of both sides of the DAC?

Yes,

You’ve only shown one side of the DAC

Sorry, I don’t english very well, you refer to the back side of the board?

–Edit–

These is my /boot/config.txt

initramfs volumio.initrd
gpu_mem=32
max_usb_current=1
dtparam=audio=on
audio_pwm_mode=2
#dtparam=i2c_arm=on
dtparam=i2s=on
disable_splash=1
hdmi_force_hotplug=1

include userconfig.txt

Volumio i2s setting below: do not alter

dtoverlay=hifiberry-dac

Your English is far better than my Spanish :slight_smile:

It doesn’t appear to have the 6 pads that mine had

All the boards that I see in Aliexpress are similar to mine, anyone have the pads you say.

settings are OK, it should work with proper connections

BCK -> Pin12
DATA -> Pin40
LRCK -> Pin35

Please try to add another wire for additional GND (you can use Pin39 on RPi)

Please make also sure the soldering in the RPi pins are good, check with a multimeter

I check the soldering is good with a multimeter, in a fresh install of volumio i don’t have sound.

I guess it’s just broken

I will try to add a 3.5mm jack to the pi zero.

@Alvaro_Ruiz_Diez, did you put a jumper?

Yes, I try with jumper and without jumper, but I don’t make work it in any case.

Now the pi and the dac are in a box until I have time to see what happend
