File names on a usb stick

I have a usb stick with music on it.
Volumio scans and displays the details and is able to play them.
When I view the usb stick on volumio across the network (as an SMB share) the names are changed. Anyone explain why?
Example;
the following are the song titles I wrote to the usb stick
01 - Köln, January 24, 1975, Part I.flac
02 - Köln, January 24, 1975, Part II a.flac
03 - Köln, January 24, 1975, Part II b.flac
04 - Köln, January 24, 1975, Part II c.flac
on the volumio SMB share they appear as;
TF0NYP~S/0GPNC6~C
TF0NYP~S/0VCVNW~P
TF0NYP~S/02Q4E7~A
TF0NYP~S/05WETL~2
The file names have not actually been rewritten - if I view the directory in a terminal session or pull the stick from volumio and plug it into a computer all looks ok.

Probably using “non-allowed” characters … have a Google.

I had exactly this problem on exactly the same album :wink:

I did do some googling but didn’t find a way to fix so far…

At this page

It says to add “mangled names = no” to smb.conf

However for me all this did was hide the files and directories, not display them properly.

If anyone has found a fix for what the smb.conf needs to display these characters (assuming its possible of course), would be great if they could share

have you checked how tagged your files?

The files look good and as you would expect in the volumio library.
