I had recently ripped a few files in .aac format and volumio was struggling to play them giving me ‘failed to decode file invalid channel number (0)’ error. It turns out this was easily fixed by changing the file extension to .m4a! Not sure if the original file types were just mislabeled - they play fine in VLC with no warnings. Hope that this is useful to someone!
