I’d like to have my PDU turn on/off my amplifier when audio starts playing. The usual net wisdom on this is to poll /proc/asound for audio to switch to PLAYBACK. I’d much rather have an ALSA pcm plugin that runs a script when the audio pause/resume event happens.
