Denafrips Ares 12

I just received my Denafrips Ares 12th and I see it is not supported by volumio. I did not realize that volumio only supported certain DACs. Is there anything I can do so that I can get this to work?

Thank you

It’s should work, only see that DSD is not working.

I am not able to get the usb out turned on for the music without it recognizing the DAC. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I am not following… do you mean that the DAC is not being recognized via the USB port? What is Volumio installed on? Pi4?

Yes it is installed pi4

  • What Volumio version are you running?
  • Please provide a booting log
  • the results of sudo lshw

And you can’t get Volumio to recognize the DAC when plugged into a USB port? Which DAC is it?

I will get that for you today. I am running the current version 3.3

It is a denafrips area 12th. That is correct. When I hit the box to pick where to send the music. The only two that show up are hdmi and headphones.

Stupid questions…

What version of Volumio?
Did you try all of the USB ports?

Yes I did. With the denafrips on and not in standby mode.

Have you used any other USB DAC on that unit?

Do you see anything in the volumio log that seems off?

Can be accessed on your local network…

http://volumio.local/dev/

when there is no url shown, than we can’t see anything
A log is the only thing that can help just now.

Here is my log. 3 of the 4 usb ports on the pi are able to charge my phone. I thought I would check to see if there was power at the usb

I think the hub refuses to start in high-speed mode.
I have no idea, perhaps dirty pins or maybe it is really the cable as mentioned in the messages.
Or not enough power to drive the Denafrips?

Well I ran up to target and bought a super cheap printer cord and it works now. I had a bad cord. It was brand new too.

Thank you for all the help. I truly appreciate it.

You must be Australian then
