Covers not found if album name contains square brackets

Struggling with cover art like many others do I’ve come to the conclusion that the format of the album title is crucial in generating the desired album art within the GUI.

I’ve tagged and embedded art work in pretty much all of my, generally, m4a-files with iTunes. Additionally I use parentheses and square brackets as part of the album titles. Tested this a couple of times. Sure enough, removing (and adding) parentheses and square brackets to the album title breaks the cover art functionality.

Is there any way to tell Volumio to ignore a part of the album title when ‘extracting’ album art from the file? Can this be achieved by modifying a php-script somewhere?

I’m not keen on removing or redefining my setup just for this. Even albums with parentheses as an ‘official’ album title fail. Maybe the answer has already been staring me in the face a couple of times but so far I’ve not been able to find any reference to this issue.

Could somebody please point me in the right direction?
