Hi,
We really appreciate people helping out at early stages, but please don’t get frustrated when downloading pre-versions.
It can occur that they do not meet your expectations, that is in the nature of early versions.
It is your own choice to test early or wait till it is stable. Just don’t call it “sh*t”
Yes. I certainly didn’t mean Volumio is shit; to the contrary: I have enjoyed it very much! The ‘sh*t’ was ment to qualify the problem I have. I have the impression that I have problems with Volumio that no one else has. I am not doing anything wrong, and it is frustrating if my problem possibly won’t be addressed because I am the only one having it. See, I haven’t been able to stream anything to my HiFi set for about six months now. Volumio just decided to suddenly not work right anymore. My HiFi is just standing there being idle. That is a little frustrating. Also, English is not my motherlanguage and I couldn’t think of a better word. I’m sorry I used it; I am not able to think of a better word. Thanks for helping us people!
I think I finally fixed the swap issues with PI1, the issue was due to overlayfs being mounted in sync mode (and that rendered dd process for creating swapfile terribly slow).

Library browsing works great but is a bit slow (40K tracks) and artists view is a bit unwieldy since I have a lot of compilations resulting in large amounts of artists with only 1 or 2 tracks.
It would be great to add an “album artist” view like mpod/mpad offer.
Also it takes a while before album art is showing (all my albums have embedded album art + folder.jpg)
Another great option would be to get Volumio playlist / mpd playlist to be integrated again (and maybe even have a default web server link available for the album art display in mpod/mpad).
Tracknumber of ID3 MP3 Tags is not used in the Play Queue.
In the Library View, the Sorting of the Tracks is shown in the correct Order. Adding the Tracks to the Play Queue, the Sorting is in Alphabetical Order instead of Track Order if there is no Track Number in the Name of the File.
same issue also on 0.998
The swap is enabled (i have checked with the command “free”) but nothing to do
After i enable the i2s with hifiberry dac, the system cannot start up properly
What can i do?
edit: is not i2s related… but on wifi usb adapter. I have an TL-WN725N, i will investigate on it now
I did a fresh flash of 0.998 on my RPi1 and I conform it is working correct now, swap is available and in use.
I do have 2 other issues:
Issue 1: Hardware volume control still not working. In previous versions the dropdown menu was empty. Now it says “Digital”. When I click on the dropdown menu, it completely disappears until I click it again. So I don’t know if there are other options to choose from. Happens on both Chromium and Firefox on Ubuntu 16.04.
I’m not sure if this is related, audio is playing fine though:
[ 11.500646] snd-hifiberry-dac soc:sound: ASoC: CPU DAI (null) not registered
[ 11.509579] snd-hifiberry-dac soc:sound: snd_soc_register_card() failed: -517
[ 11.684496] snd-hifiberry-dac soc:sound: pcm5102a-hifi <-> 20203000.i2s mapping ok
Issue 2: Browsing webradio is all working, except “By genre (Shoutcast)”.
Edit: Issue 2 seems related to the ethernet problem. I can reach Volumio on the internal network (wired), but it didn’t pick up the DNS and gateway from the DHCP server. Switching network from automatic to manual and back to automatic in the webGUI resolved this.
I can confirm that volume problem with DAC HifiBerry Digi+ was also resolved - I can now adjust volume
EDIT 2016-10-09 : not anymore, it was working only at 1st day. Function is again not working (I added my NAS and several web-radios since than, also removed Spotify plugin as I wrote it is not recommended to use)
Just upgraded from current live version using the upgrader on a RPI. Only issue I saw was it refused to output any audio for about 10 minutes. It seemed to come back after fiddling with audio settings and starting to play a new track. Not 100% sure what happened there.
The new library browsing interface is much improved.
Hi Enzo, yes it will be solved but we’re now prioritizing other stuff. We want to offer a stable release and then fix this bug (which altough annoying, is a low severity bug).
