Changing screen resolution and brightness

Hi all,

Yesterday I installed Volumio for the first time on an old touchscreen laptop I had laying around. Volumio works like a charm, but there is only one thing that doesn’t work well. Which is the screen.

The screen is displaying at 800x600 resolution and I want to set that to 1366x678 which is the laptop’s native resolution. I also want to be able to set the brightness to another level.

Im my search on the internet I found people using the xrandr command to add a new resolution and set the display to that, but that hasn’t worked for me yet. I tried the steps from this post without success. I wasn’t able to make a new resolution because it kept giving me the error: Failed to get size of gamma for output default.

volumio@volumio:~$ xrandr -q
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
Screen 0: minimum 800 x 600, current 800 x 600, maximum 800 x 600
default connected 800x600+0+0 0mm x 0mm
800x600 0.00*

The touchscreen did work out of the box btw.

Can someone help me to get the correct resolution and brightness?

If any additional info is needed, let me know!
