Cannot access UI via "volumio.local" hostname

My Pi3 running Volumio is connected to my home network via Cat5e cable. I can access the device from my PC using “volumio.local” from the browser. However, on my wireless devices (iPhone and Android tablet) I can only access the device via IP address. I get ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT if try by hostname. I’d like to access it via the “volumio.local” hostname on all my devices. Is there a simple solution to this problem?

I have an AT&T U-Verse router. I don’t see any sort of DNS entries available on this router. One thought is to edit the Hosts file on my phone and tablet, but neither are jailbroken/rooted and I was hoping for a solution that didn’t involve setting up my own DNS server, hacking my devices, etc…

Try volumio.lan? volumio.lan works on my mobile (but .local doesn’t!)

I have NO IDEA why, and haven’t bothered to work it out yet

Same here… seems like raspberrypi isn’t getting an IP from my router

It can’t work with android. On a PC you need a bonjour service installed. On Apple devices it works. But as I said it can’t work on android. You have to use IP address instead.

Sometimes I have to use volumio/ to be able to access it without IP.

volumio.lan works fine from my Android devices.
